Our History
The Howard University Alumni Chapter of Prince George’s County, Maryland was founded in August,1999 and reorganized in 2005 as a Constituent Unit of the Howard University Alumni Association, hereinafter called “HUAA” or “Association”, which is an organization formed as a unit of Howard University, as tax-exempt entity pursuant to Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3).
Our Mission
The mission is to increase value and enrich the Howard University and Prince George’s communities we serve by creating programmatic and financial success. We will promote and maintain alumni interest in the support of Howard University as an institution of academic excellence, and create and maintain an environment that encourages alumni participation of Prince George’s County, Maryland through volunteerism, serving, and financial support for the University and the Prince George’s County community.
Our Vision
To build an alumni chapter that is recognized for its commitment to enhancing the quality of its community; providing superior services; delivering outstanding programs; embracing fundraising and service innovations; providing exceptional service to Howard University and the Prince Georges County community; and supporting a knowledgeable, skilled, and caring alumni base. To realize this vision the chapter will provide programs including, but not limited to:
- Sponsoring programs and services that foster and promote allegiance to Howard University and the Prince George’s County community.
- Offering scholarships to facilitate the educational pursuits of students. Providing support for special projects of Howard University.
- Participating in fund-raising campaigns.
- Encouraging leadership in the community by promoting to serve Prince George’s County and recognizing alumni contributions to Howard University and the community-at-large.
- Providing outreach and promote fellowship among the alumni in Prince George’s County, Maryland and keep alumni informed concerning Howard University’s mission, needs, plans and progress.
